FUCK the Most Beautiful Teenager!

No, not literally, you pervert!

Last week, I noticed two of my teenage second cousins "Liking" pictures posted by a Facebook page entitled, "Most Beautiful Teenager." If you haven't heard of it, good, but that also means you've been living under a rock in social networking's backyard.

Anyway, I checked the page out, and was very deeply disturbed. It was like walking into a room of masturbating pedophiles. Fap-fap-fap-fap-fap...fap-fap...fap-fap-fap.....

I decided to rant.....

~~~Being beautiful is not how you look. Being beautiful is HOW YOU ARE!!!~~~
WARNING!!!
WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO READ MAY DISTURB YOU. I HOPE IT DOES.
Okay..........
THIS IS BULLSHIT!!!!!
I'm disgusted with myself that I had actually had to click "Like" in order to tag this page in this rant!!!
What the FUCK is up with this Facebook page: Most Beautiful Teenager?!?! Are you FUCKING kidding me?!
Sure. Okay. We can say that we think someone is beautiful, but here are my disturbances, regarding this page:
1. There are 304,259 people who "Like" this page. There are 1,235,959 people "talking about" it. One of each of those numbers is, obviously, me. I'm sure there are a ton of teenagers on Facebook. I'm HOPING that the majority of the "Likes" are teenagers or, at least, people who don't know better than to rate teenagers on their appearance. If that's not the case, well— you catch my drift.
2. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." This page does NOT teach that. It is forcing people (teenagers as the main demographic) to think that beauty should be a certain way. Teenagers struggle enough, as it is, with self-confidence about their looks. They do NOT need ANOTHER source to tell them what is sexy and what's not. I wouldn't be surprised if some girl or boy has committed SUICIDE because of seeing this page and saying to him/herself, "I'll never be as beautiful as this person I see being rated so highly."
I reeeeaaaaaaaallly hope that this page was not created by a woman or a man who should know better than to force our youth into believing that beautiful is a specific way of looking.
~~~Being beautiful is not how you look. Being beautiful is HOW YOU ARE!!!~~~
FUCK!!!
*pant, pant, pant, pant, pant*

The rant doesn't quite end there. Here are the very supportive comments:

  • Zuzana Your words speak such truth and I totally relate to them. I agree and also believe that such pages shouldn't be made, not even on facebook, but anywhere. Women and men shouldn't be subject to that pain.

  • The Bastard ‎Zuzana: Thanks for the compliment, but my words don't even begin to speak truth. These words are just a minute fraction of truth. No amount of words, nor word choices, nor word arrangements, etc. can describe how fucked it all is.

  • Zuzana No, I know. One can only do so much to articulate how preposterous this with words, because there really aren't any. I myself can't even begin to describe how angry such things make me feel.

  • Theresa Depuy It is messed up I hate even to see the little girls in those beauty contest that are made up to look like adults pisses me off how the parents parade them around on stage I watched the show once and couldn't believe how the parents act with the kids ...totally fucked up I don't know how to put it all in words to make a long rant short I could go on forever ....

  • Zuzana It's funny because people think things like this are harmless, but in the end it hurts more people than one can ever imagine. I myself am hurt by these things, and even though people tell me I'm beautiful, I still see those photoshopped models on covers of magazines thinking I have to look like them to be liked and to attract the opposite sex. I know better than that, but there is a point when it's enough to break down even the strongest of people. I hate the objectified females you see in video games, films, media, etc. It makes me feel like crap and I know it makes a lot of other women out there feel like crap too because they think they have to live up to that expectation, whether it's true or not, doesn't matter, media feeds them this and it effects them.

  • The Bastard Same goes for males. Also, I assume it especially affects those who are, as they say, gender confused.

  • Zuzana Ugh, i just looked at the page and my stomach dropped.
    10 August at 00:48
  • The Bastard Did you see the girl with the thong? 8/
    10 August at 00:51
  • Zuzana Luckily I missed the thong part, but what I'm seeing that breaks my heart is people purposely putting pictures of people to make fun of them.

  • Theresa When I was real young Maybe 10 11 I was watching mrs america with my mom and i wanted to be in a beauty contest and my mom said I couldn't because I was to short that broke my heart I will never forget that it does impact how girls feel today it is even worse for the kids I was lucky I wasn't picked on cause I was cute but just short

  • Sarah That website disgusts me too. What disgusts me even more is when I see " likes" from people who are clearly not teenagers....that's not dangerous or concerning or anything :/ how naive are kids and parents?!

  • The Bastard Totally. I think it's okay for an adult to platonically say that a minor (I'm using this term in the legal sense, which varies from state-to-state, country-to-country) is beautiful — but for an adult to assign a number on a "hotness scale" to a minor, for whatever reason, is fucked up.
Since then, Facebook has shut down the fucked up page.

Thank fucking God!

Disturbingly Yours,
— The Bastard
